‘DOES THE DOG DIE?’ solo show @jvm_muzejs opened to the public on Friday, with a celebration truly worthy of remembering! 🥳

Thank you to everyone who participated in this special moment and thank you to @lailamon_art & @cukurra for the undercover filming capturing it all! Thank you for all the most beautiful flowers, unique gifts, as well as even delicious food (gifted by all my fellow artist friends of course - you knew I’d be starving by the end of the day). And, a special mention to each guest who listened to their inner call of the wild and wore leopard print! 🐆

“Portrait of Human Greed and Derangement” is an in

“Portrait of Human Greed and Derangement” is an installation featuring a pile of plant based jellies, in the same weight as was my dog Lucky when he passed; placed underneath an oil painting titled “All protein is plant based”. Throughout the duration of this years @scentartfestival the participants of the festival removed about half of the pile of sweets, one piece at a time. Partaking in the metaphorical digestion of my loved one, who was lucky enough to not be born as an animal whose bodily remnants are usually used for the production of gelatine. 🥩🐕🍴

Would you eat jellies made out of dog cartilage, skin, and ligaments? 💭

A light rain blessed me as I was walking home from the studio last night. I am a bit sad, having to stop painting, as all the works need to be at least touch dry for collection next Monday. And, I have other responsibilities to attend to - before the big installation of ‘DOES THE DOG DIE?’ with subsequent opening on Friday 5th June @jvm_muzejs 15:00 🖼️

Painting is what I love most however. This weekend though, has been overwhelmingly full with lots of other events in anticipation of the exhibition. Besides finishing 4 out of the last 5 (or 7?) promised artworks. Two beautifully framed paintings had to be picked up from the framers, one of which was instantly then to be delivered to the Ğ. Eliass Jelgava history and art museum for an upcoming other exhibition/competition. We also witnessed absolutely breathtaking voices singing at the museum, as part of the premiere of the Easter Morning Cantata (1824), which was performed for the first time on this May 23rd, since its discovery.
Very special 500 copies of postcards also were picked up from the best printers in Jelgava. And, Simba had her stitches removed! 🐱

On top of all that, we celebrated our 4 year anniversary together! Huge thanks to my love, who assisted with everything aforementioned. As well as the 5h it took for us to prep and pack all the works leaving the studio next week. And, has been amazingly taking care of all the regular life things that occur and need attention, outside of art making. Feeling very grateful and blessed. 💖

The lack of sleep is catching up with me, as we are nearing the finish line - the grand opening of my solo show @jvm_muzejs titled “DOES THE DOG DIE?” on Friday 5th June 15:00 ✍️

In the midst of the absolute overload of everything that needs to be done, fast food has become an essential for survival - not an occasional treat that actually offers some variety of tastes and flavours to experience. The cats are growing ever so desperate for attention. As does anyone else, it seems, who I have a close relationship with in my life. 🐈‍⬛🐈

In studio, I’ve discovered that I’m actually quite fond of my @royaltalens Vincent Van Gogh paintbrushes specifically for the purpose of painting fur and hair textures. And, thanks for insight from my partner, I’ve successfully troubleshot a way to attach one of my sculptures - featuring @culturehustle mirror paint on the eyes - to part of a bigger installation piece. 👽

Part of the creative process this week has also been finally landing on some clothing pieces for upcoming performances. In very uninspiring colours. The most neutral I can accept in my wardrobe is usually leopard print, so the beige, browns, and blacks are rather soul sucking for me to look at or wear. But, I am brave and persist with encountering these colours as part of new adventures with fellow creatives! 🌚

BIGGEST VEGAN ART EXHIBITION in Latvia (in the entire Baltic region?!) coming to @jvm_muzejs on Friday 5th June! 🕊️

Space of 200sq meters, with ceilings of about 9m high, filled with new works and select pieces from the archive. 🖼️

Currently finishing the last 6 paintings, 2 sculptures, and 3 original painting books. 🖌️
